While the main character has to rely on the environmental puzzles to kill things and the little girl sections are just puzzle solving. The only character that can actually do combat is the knight character. The game is forgiving in the taking hits department at least as the main character. From loading the ballista one bolt at a time to the slow crane lift to get the fuel can on top of the tree from the generator, everything serves a purpose and makes you think about your choices, especially towards the end. Every action feels slow but in a deliberate way. It’s nice to feel like the game doesn’t hate you and punishes you for not knowing what’s happening sometimes. The resets are quick and usually put you right back to where you were before you died. There are tons of save points or lamps so it doesn’t feel devastating when you fall or get killed. While at first, I got flashbacks to Bubsy this is so much better and has a place in the game. Yes, you that’s right you can fall to your death which means there is fall damage. Our main character can run and jump but will also fall to his death. The little girl struggles to climb on chairs and can’t jump or reach high places. The knight can’t jump because of his heavy metal armour. With moments of action that kick the music into high gear.Įverything feels like it has real-world physics with Inmost. Explore with three playable characters, in one dark, interconnected story.
Inmost game review full#
Explore a hauntingly beautiful world full of mystery and hidden truths. In Inmost you need to escape the depths of an otherworldly labyrinth in this cinematic and beautiful puzzle platformer. Seriously the artists on this team pat yourselves on the back this is a job well done! As someone who has trouble seeing certain colors especially blues there was enough distinction in the shades that I had no trouble at all finding my way around. The character sprites lovingly rendered with each being recognizable. Maybe I’m biased because I love retro pixel looking games but even you have to admit this game is beautiful. The pixel art is brilliantly atmospheric, there was a fair few times I had to stop and look around. One thing that we can all see if you watch the video or looking at the screencaps is the game is beautiful. Like I said it would, it almost made me shed a tear. Without spoiling the story as I feel you should play this little gem it’s a sad yet happy story. There are really 3 stories here and all of them are interconnected and woven together. It’s told from a kid’s voice and perspective until the very end when it’s revealed what the full story is.

If not darker more sombre like from the start you know you may shed a tear or 2 by the end. Clicking on the new game and watching the opening cinematic I got Ori and the blind forest vibes but darker. I had to remind myself sleep was a thing I was so entertained. What is Inmost? Right from the start, I was hooked.
